College for Kids (CFK) and Teens offers fun, hands-on learning that sparks curiosity and a love of learning for all youth in the communities we serve.

Registration Opens: April 17, 2026

Program Dates: June 15–18, 2026,  

Hours: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (times vary depending on courses registered for) 

Location: Santa Maria Campus 

Course offerings in a variety of topics:  

Creative Arts

  • Arts & Crafts Workshop (ages 5–7)

  • Ukulele Sing & Strum (ages 8–14)

STEM & Robotics

  • STEAM Fun: Scribbling Robots

Entry: 

  • Preregistration is required. Register in person with the CFK form or email chloe.stanley@hancockcollege.edu. 
  • One form per student. Registrations are processed in the order received. 
  • Payment: cash, credit/debit card; payments need to be made in person. 
  • Parents may not attend or audit class without the coordinator's approval. 
  • For safety, enrollment details are not shared by phone. Parent/guardian status verified in person.

Calling all teen chefs! Join us for a delicious culinary adventure where kids will mix, measure, chop, and create a variety of tasty recipes from scratch. Along the way, participants will learn essential kitchen skills, food safety basics, and creative cooking techniques while building confidence in the kitchen. Every class is packed with hands-on fun and plenty of opportunities to taste their creations. 

Students will learn: 

  • Basic cooking and baking techniques 
  • Kitchen safety and food preparation skills 
  • Measuring, mixing, and following recipes 
  • Teamwork, creativity, and confidence in the kitchen 

Schedule: Saturdays, 1–2 p.m. 
Dates: November 7–November 21, 2026 
Location: Room S-107 

For ages: 12-17 

Fees: 

  • Enrollment: $50

Get ready for a spooktacular time in the kitchen! Young chefs will create frightfully fun Halloween-inspired treats while learning basic cooking and decorating techniques. From creepy creations to spooky snacks, this hands-on workshop is packed with creativity, laughter, and delicious fun. Costumes are welcome, but not required! 

Students will learn: 

  • Basic baking and decorating techniques 
  • Kitchen safety and food preparation skills 
  • Creative food design and presentation 
  • Teamwork and confidence in the kitchen 

Saturday, 12–1:30 p.m. 
Date: October 31, 2026

For ages: 6-10

  • Enrollment: $30

Program Guidelines

  • Courses are for ages 5–18. Check listings for age eligibility. All classes are coed unless noted.
  • Students must behave appropriately. Disruptive students will be dismissed without refund.
  • Classes meet Monday–Saturday at various times/dates. Review schedules carefully.

Injury/Accident Disclaimer

  • Some classes carry a risk of injury. Participation is voluntary and assumes all risks.
  • CFK students do not pay the Health Services Fee and are not covered by college accident insurance.

Transportation

  • Parents are responsible for drop-off/pick-up and transportation to/from classes and field trips.
  • Children must be walked to/from class and picked up on time.
  • After 15 minutes, instructors will escort children to Community Education (Bldg. S) or Campus Police, and parents/guardians will be called.

Refund Policy

  • No refunds once a class begins. Drop at least one day before to receive a refund.
  • If a class is canceled before starting, a full credit will be issued.
  • If dropped before the first class, students receive a full refund of the class and materials fees. Exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances.
  • Refund requests must be submitted at the Community Education office (Bldg. S) using the Refund Request form.

Community Information

The College for Kids (CFK) program, established in 1984, is offered by the Community Education Department to expand learning opportunities for youth.

CFK is self-supporting and receives no taxpayer funding. All classes are fee-based. Registration must be completed in person at Community Education (Bldg. S), AHC Santa Maria campus.
